Age Restrictions

Masters – 1994 and earlier
Open – 2012 and earlier
Junior – 2005 and later
Cadet – 2008 and later
U15 – 2010 and later
U13 – 2012 and later
U10 – 2015 and later

Fees

There is a $37.50 registration fee, or a $27.50 registration fee if registration is completed by the Early Bird Deadline.

U10/U13 events are $10.00 each, or free before the early bird deadline. U15 events are $25.00 each, or $15.00 before early bird. Cadet, Junior, Open & Masters events are $40.00 each, or $30.00 before the early bird deadline.

Fencers competing in the Open and Wheelchair events in a weapon may compete in the Wheelchair event for free and may register for that event when checking in for the Open at the venue on the day of the event.

Prices subject to PST if you are 18 years of age or older. Early Bird Registration Deadline is Tuesday, October 22nd at 10pm. Registration closes Sunday, October 27th at 10pm. 

 

 

Rules and Regulations

Fencers may enter more than one event on each day, but they may be required to withdraw from an event if their
entry will impede the progress of the competition. Fencers must remain in the event in progress.

All Fencers, with the exception of U10 & U13 must have a valid CFF license and Regular SFA memberships. U10 & U13 categories must have at least a SFA Recreational membership, but a regular membership & CFF License if they compete in older categories

U10/U13 Events

For all U10/U13 events we will be separating by gender first then age. If there is at least 3 boys and 3 girls they will be separated into two events. Then for each of those events if there is at least 3 U10 and 3 U13 they will be separated again. If there is not enough to separate by gender it could still be separated by age.

Mini-Epee will be using foils. For Mini-Epee and Foil events with any U10 fencers the maximum blade size allowed is size 2.

 

 

Equipment Standards 

 

Clothing

 

For all age categories (U10, U13, U15, Cadet, Junior, Senior, and Masters):

 

Mask: Fencing masks must be fitted with a strap. Masks without strap will be rejected. In foil the conductive bib is mandatory (except for U10/13); retrofits are allowed but they must adhere to FIE specifications. Visor masks are not permitted. Leon Paul Comfort-Fit masks without supporting tang must include factory supplied retaining clip or certified retro-fit.

Jacket: Fencing jacket must overlap the pants by 10 cm as according to FIE rules.

Pants: Fencing pants required. Socks must meet lower edge of pants as according to FIE rules.

Plastron: Plastron mandatory as per FIE rules.

Chest Protector: Mandatory for women as per FIE rules. U13 or lower mandatory for both genders. For foil, chest protectors must be padded for U15 and up.

 

Blades

 

For all age categories (U10, U13, U15, Cadet, Junior, Senior, and Veterans):

 

Use of non-FIE blades is allowable.

 

For age categories:

 

U10 – size 2 blades or smaller required, except in Sabre (no special rules).

U13 and up – no special rules regarding the maximum blade length.

For Mini-Epee events foils will be used.

 

Armourer

Armourer will be checking:

– gloves to ensure no holes or tears exist 

– masks for conformity to above rules and punch test if required

– body wires and mask clips for conductivity
